Mission

The mission of the Section on Data Mining is to promote and disseminate research and applications among professionals interested in theory, methodologies, and applications in data mining and knowledge discovery.

The Data Mining (DM), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Health Applications (HA) Subdivisions of the INFORMS are jointly organizing the Third Pre-conference Workshop in conjunction with the 2008 INFORMS Annual Conference in Washington, DC. The Data Mining Section is organizing cluster of sessions during the 2008 INFORMS Annual Conference in Washington DC.  On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the INFORMS-2008 DM Cluster, we would like to invite you to organize sessions and/or submit presentations.  Topics of interest to the DM Cluster include, but are not limited, data mining research in the areas of computer science, database management, information technology, statistics, computing, operations research, operations management, and applications. If you are interested in organizing a session, including joint sessions with other INFORMS Sections, please contact Xiaoming Huo or Rong Duan with your ideas by March 28, 2008.   • The Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Mining (DM) Subdivisions of INFORMS are jointly organizing a One-day Pre-conference Workshop in conjunction with the 2007 INFORMS Annual Conference in Seattle, WA. Abstract (200 words) deadline has been EXTENTED to June 1, 2007. In addition, a special issue of the Journal of Special Topics in Information Technology and Management (ITM) will be devoted to the papers accepted at the Workshop on AI and DM 2007 (WAID 2007). Submission deadline for the special issue is April 15, 2008. Please see the full Call For Papers for more information.

  • The Data Mining Section is organizing its fourth cluster of sessions during the 2007 INFORMS Annual Conference in Seattle, WA.  On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the INFORMS-2007 DM Cluster, we would like to invite you to organize sessions and/or submit presentations.  Topics of interest to the DM Cluster include, but are not limited, data mining research in the areas of computer science, database management, information technology, statistics, computing, operations research, operations management, and applications.   • The DM and AI sections organized a joint one-day workshop on Saturday November 4th, prior to the 2006 INFORMS Annual Conference in Pittsburgh, PA. The workshop schedule and presented papers are now available.
